Day 1: This was a trip a little longer in the making than most for us. We started by flying down to Las Vegas with the Kids and Aunt Fiona, and renting a car. From there we drove past the Hoover Dam on our way to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon via some of Route 66. We had dinner that 1st night in Williams, which turned out to be a very cool little town. We spent a few nights at the south rim before moving on to Flagstaff.

Day 2 - South Rim Grand Canyon: We spent the 2nd day of our trip at the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The views were spectactular, though a bit hazy, hence the lack of photos. We finished the day watching an imax movie which was pretty good.

Day 3 - Williams & Flagstaff: We didn't have too many specific plans on this day, except to make our way to Flagstaff. We stopped at a local air museum that turned out to be pretty nice, and also re-visited the town of Williams Az, where the kids go to ride a zip line. Arriving in Flagstaff pretty early, we also decided to visit the Walnut Canyon National Monument, which has quite a few cliff dwellings.

Day 4 - Montezuma Castle & Slide Rock State Park: We started our 4th day at Montezumas Castle, which is a more impressive but solitary cliff dwelling, and also enjoyed some local parks. One of those was Slide Rock State Park, I think one of the kids' favorite spots the entire trip. It consists of a sandstone creek bed that people slide down with a few pools interspersed.

Day 5 - To the North Rim: From Flagstaff we drove to the North Rim, which for the Grand Canyon, turned out to be our favorite. The drive north out of Flagstaff was remote, and scenic. The view at the canyon seemed more impressive than the south rim, and there were quite a bit fewer people and much more wildlife (Buffalo, Deer, Condors, etc). This was the 1st night the kids actually got to see the milky way in the night sky as well. Very cool.

Day 6 - Bryce Canyon: After the North Rim we drove up to Bryce Canyon National Park. We weren't sure what to expect here, but were blown away by both the scenery and a few of the shorter hikes. The landscape was almost surreal, and the pictures do it absolutely no justice. Fiona spent half her time here taking pictures of a few incredible lightening storms.

Day 7: After the North Rim we drove up to Bryce Canyon National Park. We weren't sure what to expect here, but were blown away by both the scenery and a few of the shorter hikes. The landscape was almost surreal, and the pictures do it absolutely no justice. Fiona spent half her time here taking pictures of a few incredible lightening storms.

Day 8 - To Zion Canyon: This was a travel day between Bryce Canyon and Zion, and we stopped at a little town on the map called Kanarraville. Our idea was to walk the Kanarra Creek (Canyon) Trail. This trail, outside of the Zion National Park, was at least as impressive to us as anything we saw inside the park. It was probably a mile and a half or two in to the first slot canyon, but after that you didn't want to stop.

Days 9-10 - Zion National Park: We finally made it to Zion, and being a drier corner of the state at lower altitudes, we started to feel the heat. A few of the trails we took here would have been more impressive at an earlier time of the year with more water, but they were nice nonetheless. Most fun was "The Slot", begging at the end of a one-mile river walk with you continuing into and up river. There is a limit to how far you can go without a wilderness permit, but it is quite a ways in.
