We usually try to go skiing somewhere when the kids are on their mid-winter break, and a past favorite has been Mission Ridge just south of Wenatchee. It normally has dry snow, no to very small lift lines, and excellent grooming. For some
reason, we have not visited in a while, and decided to go back this year. Delaney took a friend this time, and I think everyone had a great time.
We ski'd for two days, and covered most of the mountain, though Chair 4 was never open due to it being mid-week. We did later on at the end of the
2nd day get over to ski one of its runs though.
This, we later found, is called Castle Rock. We assumed this when the lift operator later said "Whoa! You guys accidentally climbed Castle Rock! Ha Ha!!!". This apparently made us cool.
Delaney hasn't fallen down here, this is how they all decided to travel on the thin layer of ice. By rolling. Me, I decided to keep what dignity I could muster, and crashed through with every step up to my knees.
The last run of the day, and we decided to take one more look at Castle Rock. Here, we are on Skookum off of Chair 3, which were up there on the favorites list.
This time we dropped off to the right, and came down on Castle (trail), which is normally reached by Chair 4. We hadn't done this trail yet as it drops you at the bottom of the hill - as the ski area was closing though this no longer really mattered.
