We had a long weekend with Presidents Day, and decided to spend it driving around the Olympic Peninsula. We did not realize, though we should have, that the day we started this little trip was also Valentines Day. We drove around the peninsula in a clock-wise direction, and spent our first night in Aberdeen. We had dinner out on the coast in Grayland at a nice restaurant we had wanted to try for sometime, Bennetss.
We quickly were reminded of the holiday when we showed up for dinner, and had to wait about 45 minutes, but in the end, it was worth it. We killed a little time by teasing Delaney ("I think there's a Witch in that house behind us"), driving out to the beach ("Oh look Delaney, we're driving into the water!", and finally returning the restaurant ("Oh wow, we're parked in front of the same house that I think has that Witch in it."). We still had a short wait, but not bad. Dinner was excellent, the chef even came out to talk to us.
The next morning we drove north and had breakfast at the Lodge on Lake Quinault. Taking our time, we continued on and stopped at both South Beach Campground (not much of a campground, excellent beach though) and Kalaloch (awesome!). We had lunch in Forks, and continued on our way to Sequim where we spent the night. The next morning we made the final drive home.
