This was one of those trips that we had always talked a little bit about, but there always seemed to be something else that had priority. Kirstis' family though was having a reunion of sorts, and possibility of meeting most everyone in one place was too much to pass up. My only regret is that I wish we had gotten to meet them all a lot earlier, they are awesome!

We started our trip in Edinburgh, and then from there drove through Stirling, Callander, Glencoe, the farthest north we made it was Inverness. Along the way we had some great food, got to tour a number of truly awesome historical sites, and enjoyed the truly beautiful scenery.

From Inverness we headed south-west and spent a few nights on the Isle of Skye, and then onto Oban for a night, and then the Isle of Mull and Iona, the latter we spent two nights on. We finished our trip in Glasgow meeting with Kirstis Mom and Sisters again, and had a great couple of days there before heading home.

Traveling to Iona on the short ferry ride, we see the Iona Abbey and Nunnery here

This was the site I believe of the older Iona Nunnery, closer to what is now town.

Just north of the old Iona Nunnery, we have the Heritage Center to the left, and the Iona Abbey and Nunnery straight ahead in the distance.

Dinner our first night was at the Argyll Hotel, and it was very good! They had a number of gluten free options, and it seems like we lucked out seeing as we did not have reservations (recommended!). The skies opened up on us walking 'home' after dinner, and we were all literally soaked to our skin!

The next morning we left our B&B walking south away from the ferry dock, and would shortly follow the road as it turned west.
