We made a very short trip this long weekend to St. George Utah, and just had time to visit some of the sites that we have enjoyed very much in the past. We landed on Friday afternoon in Las Vegas, and drove directly to Zion National Park, and walked the Narrows. The river seemed lower, and definitely muddier, than it had been on our prior visits.

On Saturday we left St. George and drove directly to Kanarraville, UT to visit the Kanarra Creek Canyon. The local town has ceased charging for parking, but has instead started charging $9/visitor to hike the trail. A local told us that they were on track this year to gross $500k from visitors. Wow.

Finally, on our last full day, we drove out to the north rim to the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately there are a few fires in the area, and they greatly affected the visibility of the canyon and surrounding areas. We did on this visit though see more wildlife than we have ever seen here in the past, including a heard of Buffalo, Deer, etc. After having a nice dinner in the lodge, we drove home, and on the way had to stop quite a few times for deer trying to jump into the road.

On our way back, and off to dinner. The temperature was warm enough that the kids were all dried off by the time we sat down to eat in town.

On Saturday morning we visited Kanarraville, to hike the Kanarra Creek Canyon. This thing was packed with people, especially when compared to our last visit.

The first creek crossing. From here the trail changed a little bit from our last visit. Before we crossed and almost immediately turned back towards the creek to hike up. This time we followed a newer two-track trail/road most of the way up.

A local told us that the $9/hiker was on track to earn the town almost $500k this year. He said what we got for that was this sign, and a small port-o-potty type outhouse. Nice!
