Just after school was let out in June we travelled to Kauai and spent ten days relaxing and seeing the local sites. We started on the south side at Poipu Beach, and visited Waimea Canyon and other local sites. After five nights we travelled to the north side near Princeville, and stayed at Anini Beach. The north and south sides of the island are quite different, and between us, we were unsure which side we actually preferred.

The kids' first stop after we got into the house was the beach.

Poipu beach has a sand spit that extends out from the beach, and can be extremely popular.

Looking back towards the beach. Swimming is more on the right, snorkling on the left, and people were surfing to the far left.

The little beach just in front of us is Brenneckes. There is a bar/grill named Brenneckes, but is actually across from Poipu beach.

This trail started at Brenneckes beach and meandered south through some condo/resorts and houses. Moira used this for running every day.

Our 1st wakeup we drove to Lawa'i beach and rented our snorkel gear from Boss Frog. This is I believe a na`ena`e - an Orangeband Surgeonfish.
