After dropping both girls off at school for their first year at Whitworth (and first year of college for Delaney) we left town and headed to Kauai for a planned vacation. This was a great destination to counter the melancholy of the girls leaving for school, and we enjoyed the our time there quite a bit. Among other things, we found a great little coffee shop that took online orders, and maybe a 20 minute drive away, a little lunch cafe that had maybe the best GF club sandwich I've ever had (almost worth the flight!). We also for the first time took a guided canoe trip on the wailua river to see Secret Falls.
On a visit to the Makuwahi Cave site we also found an animal preserve, and then came across a solitary house that I had seen online before. Called Gillin Beach House, you can apparently rent it, and it appears to be the only house in the area - highly unusual for anywhere in Hawaii. I'm getting side tracked here though ...
We also drove to the north side to the end of the road, and visited Tunnels Beach. While up there we also visisted Anini Beach and did a little snorkeling there.
