On the kids' last day of school this year, we packed up, and with some friends headed to Salt Creek Recreation Area, just west of Port Angeles. There we saw some excellent tide pools, enjoyed the scenery, and saw quite a bit of wildlife. We at one point thought that Juneau was gone over a bluff and onto the rocks below, she had tangled with and then chased a Racoon through the fencing. We also saw two humbpack whales, and of course, as we are getting the camera out as fast as we could, another campers dog and ours decided they didn't like each other very much.

This is a longer site, and it should have a nice view of the sunset.

On Saturday morning we went exploring the tide pools, and there were lots!

Barnacles - we saw much larger ones to, coming up. The more I looked at them, the uglier I thought they were.

The "mouth" would actually open and close for us. For some reason, I could not stop thinking of the movie Aliens.

In places we found these near perfect rings in the rock. We have no idea what they are from.

Another critter from the movie Aliens (maybe I shouldn't be on the beach?).
